Durham University & Tyneside Cinema team up to offer wartime newsreel PhD

Tyneside Cinema, the only surviving newsreel theatre in the UK with an active programme in newsreel heritage, has teamed up to partner Durham University offering a wonderful opportunity for a PhD studentship.

Applications are now invited for an AHRC-funded PhD at Durham University on ‘British Newsreels at War, 1939-1945’. This studentship is offered under the AHRC’s Collaborative Doctoral Partnership Programme.

The doctoral supervisors will be Professor Jo Fox (History) and Dr Simon Ward (Modern Languages) at Durham University, and Holli Keeble, Head of Programmes at the Tyneside Cinema.

The studentship is tenable for a minimum of 3 years and will begin on 1 October 2016.
